My name is Eugenia Paschall, but friends call me Gina.
I've been doing taxidermy for the past 3 years. Since I was young I've been fascinated by wildlife. I grew up in Oakridge, Oregon, a small mountain town just east of Eugene. I was exposed to lots of wildlife, such as deer, elk, bear and other small mammals. I used a lot of pen and ink as an artistic medium long before I though of doing taxidermy.

I always wanted to go hunting, but my family was not the hunting type. We were, however, fisherman. Oregon streams and rivers are beautiful and challenging, as well as rewarding for the Sports Fisherman.

After moving from home, I got married, and continued my artwork. My husband and I began a small construction company, framing for new construction. A lot of the clients we worked with were big game hunters, mostly archers. It always sounded fascinating, but I never thought to try it for myself.

One afternoon, I tuned into a local hunting channel and saw an ad for Hoyt Bows. I thought how cool they looked and exciting it would be to try archery. So I went down and bought a PSE Spider compound bow and camouflage, and arrows and all the goodies involved for a first time hunter and out into the brush I went.

I hunted for a few years, without much luck, but I saw a lot of great bucks and had lots of close calls. Oregon has Mule deer and Blacktail deer. Both species are fantastic trophies, but I didn’t have one on my wall. I ended up buying an old whitetail buck, just to give my home a more lodge/outdoors feel. One evening, while staring at the buck, I started to wonder how it was made. I inspected it and I said to myself "I can do this!"

After a little research and some phone calls, I managed to get training under one of the best instructors in Oregon. Since that day, I've been doing North American Big Game Taxidermy. Its a passion, and an obsession. Whether its a customers mount, or my own, it excites me to think of each unique mount and what the finished product will look like.

I’ve mounted several deer in Eugene, Oregon. Many of them blacktail deer. I have done African, Elk, Bear Rugs and Life Size Small Mammals. Blacktail Taxidermy is more than just a taxidermy business, its form of art. Rebuilding what nature made perfect. Seeing the far away look in a hunters eyes as he remembers that special day, or hearing the stories that he has to tell. Some of them wild, others too unbelievable, but still exciting.

At Blacktail Taxidermy, you can expect care and respect for your trophy. Blacktail Taxidermy is dedicated to Professionalism and Honesty. Feel free to call for price quotes or with questions. Stop on by, bring your deer in, let us see what you got! My turn around is 8 months.
